University College of the Caribbeean

UCC Jamaica

HISTORY

In 2002, the Institute of Management Sciences (IMS – est. January 1992), acquired the Institute of Management and Production, (IMP – est. January 1976) to form the largest private higher education consortium in Jamaica. The merger created the University College of the Caribbean (UCC). UCC became the parent organisation in 2004 and established the second private university college in Jamaica.

In 2004, UCC expanded to form partnerships with the Florida International University (FIU), the University of Florida (UF), and the Florida State University (FSU). In 2005, these partnerships led to the creation of a number of training programmes in the fields of business, information technology and engineering.

UCC, in a bid to offer various educational options to students, sought and was granted permission from the University of London in 2008 to offer the Diploma in Law and the Bachelor of Law programmes.
UCC has also collaborated with the Commonwealth of Learning (COL) to offer the Commonwealth Executive Master of Business Administration and the Commonwealth Executive Master of Public Administration.

These are all offered in addition to a range of indigenous programmes, resulting in the granting of diplomas, associate, bachelor's and master's degrees,

We believe we can further the preparedness of secondary school graduates and mid-level professionals through tertiary training for entry and upward mobility in business or industry professions. .

After 31 years of providing training through higher education, we are confident that we can and have contributed to advancing human development through education.

Why Study in Jamaica?

Jamaica is the third largest island in the Caribbean and holds the enviable position of being one of the most popular vacation destinations in the world. The tropical island, a mere 4,411 sq. miles in size, is well-known for its infectious reggae music, terrific white-sand beaches, picturesque waterfalls and diverse topography. In recent years, the country has become even more popular as the world’s top track and field’s nation with celebrated sprinters like Usain Bolt, Shelly-Ann Fraser and Veronica Campbell-Brown. Much more than these, however, Jamaica is known for its warm, friendly people.
